The Owen Sound Tourism Development Fund Committee will provide transparent, evidence-based, strategic direction for Tourism in Owen Sound in the delivery of programs funded through the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT). Strategic direction and investments will grow the tourism economy of the community by supporting initiatives that align with one or more of Owen Sound Tourism strategic objectives.

In March 2024, the committee was created, one (1) Councillor appointed by the City of Owen Sound (the “City”), one (1) member appointed by the River District Board, two (2) members appointed by the Owen Sound and District Chamber of Commerce (the “Chamber”), and up to five (5) additional voting members who shall have businesses in or reside in the City, selected through an established member selection process from the following categories: local accommodations, local festivals & events, local arts and culture, local sports and recreation, or restaurants & hospitality.

Nick grew up in Owen Sound, Ontario before attending the University of Waterloo. He graduated with an Honours Degree in Legal Studies. Nick graduated from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 2014.
Nick practices in the areas of labour and employment, municipal law, general litigation, wills and estates, corporate law, and real estate. Nick is also a Provincial Offences Prosecutor in several municipalities in Grey-Bruce, various ministries, and other government agencies. When not working he enjoys playing bass guitar, reading, hiking the Bruce Trail, and spending time with his family.

Viveca has led the rebranding and revitalization of the River District, launched successful events and marketing campaigns, and built strong partnerships with businesses and community groups. Her work focuses on strengthening the local economy, fostering collaboration, and creating engaging spaces for residents and visitors alike.

Jennifer leads the planning and delivery of major community events and cultural initiatives. With a focus on creating inclusive, vibrant, and engaging experiences for residents and visitors. She has been instrumental in organizing signature events such as the Sound Waterfront Festival, Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, and Hockey Fest.
Jennifer also coordinates the city’s Arts, Cultural, and Volunteer Awards, celebrating community contributions and creative excellence. Known for her collaborative approach and passion for community-building, she plays a vital role in shaping the cultural landscape of Owen Sound.

Born and raised in Bruce County, Jason lives in his home town of Tara with his wife and two daughters. He holds a diploma in business. Immediately after finishing college, he started working at Best Western Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound as an accountant while assisting the General Manager with Human Resource duties. Remaining with this organization has paid off. He obtained his CHRL (human resources) in 2009 and continued in hospitality gaining his CHA designation in 2014. A love for working with people has kept Jason in this industry where there is never a dull moment.
He attributes the success of the Best Western Inn on the Bay to its dedicated employees and credits his human resources background for helping him build such a strong team. He can often be found working alongside staff members throughout the hotel. Passionate about both his community and his career, he truly loves where he lives and what he does; one could not ask for much more.

He was born and raised in Owen Sound. Adair is a member of the Library Board and the Owen Sound Poet Laureate Committee, and a Summerfolk volunteer. He served on City Council for almost two decades and is an active promoter of both Owen Sound and the arts.

I am pleased to be a part of an organization that is focused on funding the promotion and creation of amazing events and beautiful places our City can offer to visitors.

Mariam works with local tourism organizations to develop funding applications to support and promote tourism in the city and strengthen the city’s appeal as a vibrant year-round destination.
Mariam wears many hats within the community including; Founder and Owner of BeYou Yoga + Wellness, an integrative wellness business offering a range of products and services. Her passion for wellness and community is at the heart of everything she does. She is a lover of dogs, coffee, the great outdoors, and sour keys!
